Our Sorority represents a group of diverse people who always strive for the highest level of excellence, as our founders intended. Shared goals and interests in areas of service, academics, and building solid relationships to hold our chapter together and define who are we.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was founded on November 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana at Butler University. The organization was founded by seven educators: Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Vivian Irene White Marbury, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, Hattie Mae Annette Dulin Redford, Bessie Mae Downey Rhoades Martin, and Cubena McClure. They became an incorporated organization on December 30, 1929, and the first chapter was the Alpha chapter. The sorority is built on sisterhood, scholarship, and serving the community.
The Tau Delta chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is located at Radford University. The chapter was chartered on April 25, 2015, by seven trailblazing women: Patrice Janae Edwards, Clarissa Danae Pyles, Haja Mabinti Alima Ainuarah Kargbo, Kiera Shakinae Barnes, Carmelle Cleante Coby, Agem Jania Williams, and Ashley Poindexter. Many leadership opportunities and memorable experiences are gained from joining. The members are all hardworking women who are welcoming and strive to serve others. The chapter takes pride in living by the slogan of the sorority, “Greater Service, Greater Progress.”
National Programs & Projects:
There are many national programs and projects that the organization participates in, including:
Project Wee Savers is a project designed to give participants knowledge about skills in saving and buying stocks and bonds.
Sigma Youth Symposium is a symposium that focuses on the impact negative things have on the youth and addresses these issues.
Hattie McDaniel Cancer Awareness & Health Program educates others on the prevention, cure, and early detection of cancers that are affecting African Americans.
Sisterhood:
The women in the sorority are all sisters who support each other. No matter the age, all members are sisters and it is important to members that we love and create bonds with one another. It is each member of the organizations' responsibility to teach young women how to be a sister.
